This time Penny talked to us mainly about hearing loss and tinnitus and how they can affect communication. She discussed the three main types of hearing loss ‒ sensorineural, conductive, and processing loss (e.g. from a stroke) ‒ and described the characteristics of hearing loss in older people.
Penny then provided helpful tips on how to enhance your conversations at home or in the workplace. All very interesting. There was lots of specific information, too, on how to manage your tinnitus, and Penny was happy to field a wide range of questions from the audience. An excellent talk that went down really well with everyone.
Penny runs The Private Ear Clinic which has branches in many surgeries and medical centres across the South. They provide a range of services including hearing therapy and tinnitus management. For further details, click HERE.
