PictureJanet Cox at our meeting
Janet Cox has spoken to our groups several times in the past. Usually she gives a demonstration of the Bowen Technique.  Last Saturday, for a change, she came to us as a dance teacher.

She began by describing some of the benefits of dance – improved muscle tone, increased aerobic fitness, improvements to your blood circulation and lymphatic system, weight control, and so on. There are also more general benefits such as better coordination, reduced risk of osteoporosis, and an increase in psychological wellbeing.

After going through a checklist of things to remember ‒ stay hydrated, warm up slowly and cool down afterwards, wear appropriate footwear and clothing, take breaks between dances and pace yourself to avoid injury ‒ Jan guided the group through a few simple exercises and dance moves.

Dance and rhythmic exercise can boost your health and physical fitness, and  can be beneficial for people with tinnitus. Several people at our meeting reported that they forgot about their tinnitus while concentrating on the dancing!

All in all, it was a very good meeting. There was nothing too strenuous, and everyone joined in and had fun doing it.

Our thanks to Jan, once again, for coming to our group and spreading cheer.
